All You Need to Know About Drywall

Drywall is a cost-effective and lightweight material that is ideal for decoration but not for completing a construction project. Also known as sheetrock or gypsum, this popular material is common in residential and commercial buildings, but few people know about it. At Mr. Handyman, we can provide pertinent information about drywall to make your next project easier. Whether for a minor drywall repair or routine maintenance, we will answer all your questions with basic information about drywall to ensure you make informed decisions.

What Is Drywall?

As mentioned, drywall is a common construction material. It is made of gypsum plaster and often comes in the form of sheets covered in paper. The handyman then fastens the sheets to your building’s frame using nails, adhesives, or screws, while many sheets are joined with tape before applying a compound on the tapes for a seamless appearance. However, drywall varies, and it is important to research before attempting repairs or maintenance to avoid damage.

Understanding the Different Drywall Types

Drywall comes in different types, prompting most people to turn to a professional handyman in Van Alstyne and surrounding areas for assistance. Since drywall installations have increased drastically over the past several decades, manufacturers have created revolutionary solutions to address the various home improvement projects. If you prefer hiring a professional to handle your drywall needs, you’ll be asked whether you want a blue, purple, green, or white gypsum board.
The handyman can recommend the best option for your needs based on the expected moisture levels, potential fire hazards, and sound. Another vital consideration when choosing drywall is size, as reinforced boards resist moisture, sound, mold, and fire better. As a property owner, understanding the different drywall options can help you choose a suitable option for your rooms without compromising longevity or aesthetics.

Other Uses of Drywall

The common misconception is that drywall is only used for walls. However, this is not true, as it is also used to decorate different rooms in your home or workplace. You can use drywall to create arched openings, moldings, partitions, false, ceilings, shelves, and more. In addition, drywall provides the best solution for installing recessed lighting, giving you the confidence to design your spaces as you wish.

Can You Repair Drywall?

Like most construction materials, drywall can wear over time. If you notice cracks or holes, it might be time to call a professional for drywall repair and maintenance. While you can patch up minor deterioration, severe damage may require replacing an entire sheet. Whether you handle the repairs by yourself or hire a handyman in Sherman, you don’t have to worry about damage to your indoor spaces. It is crucial to address drywall damage quickly to prevent further deterioration and costly replacements down the line.

Call a Drywall Repair Service

Drywall installation, repair, and maintenance should be left to the professionals to ensure long-lasting results. While you can attempt DIY solutions with the right skills and tools, hiring professionals gives you peace of mind knowing everything is done correctly. Contact Mr. Handyman and schedule a consultation with our experts to enjoy exceptional drywall services at competitive rates.

Testimonials

Our Customers Love our Services

We called Mr. Handyman because we had a problem with our 2nd floor gutters overflowing and flooding the front flower beds. John arrived the next day and took care of everything. He was friendly, knowledgeable and took good care of our property. It turned out the gutters were fairly clean but John took the time to check more thoroughly and found the downspouts were clogged. He cleared them out and managed to get everything working as it should while taking care not to crush my newly planted flowers. I'm very happy with this service.

John Svoboda arrived when he was expected. He was friendly and professional. We wanted to make sure the windows were well sealed. He inspected each window inside and out and recommended caulking for some of them. He gave us an accurate time estimate for completing the work. A great experience!  We will be calling Mr. Handyman for other tasks

My dog has an autoimmune disease that requires he eat sitting upright. I got him a special chair for this, but it came without pilot holes drilled and for the life of me I could not get it assembled. I called Mr Handyman and Pete came out and was absolutely awesome. Amazingly friendly and knowledgeable dude, and was able to get the chair fixed and sturdy as a rock in no time at all. I had a few electrical outlets around the house that stopped working and he was also able to quickly diagnose that and explain to me what was happening. Another tech came out earlier this year to repair some flashing on my roof after a bad storm and had an equally awesome experience then. I’m very thankful for Pete and the team at Mr Handyman!
